our ranking system

Sash ranking & symbolism:

1.             Student = Red sash - means the beginning, the sun is coming up.
Yellow sash  - means illumination, the sun is higher in the sky.

Yellow sash with white tassels   -  means illumination is partly achieved, the sun shines brightly. 

 

2.             Shirfu (1st step) = White sash -  means illumination is achieved both internally and externally, the sun is overhead.

 

3.             Master (Shirfu) = Grey sash with black tassels - means illumination is achieved both internally and externally, the sun is going back down.

 

4.             Grandmaster (Shirgung) = Black sash with white tassels  - means all is understood. Darkness and light has been blended together as a whole.

 

 

Three rankings systems of Tohdi - Animal symbol on sash: DRAGON

1. Tohdi - Open Door (Have to prove dedication every six months)

White sash with red tassels  - the beginning

 

2. Tohdi – The way to Closed door(Have to prove illumination every year)

White sash with  gold tassels - the beginning

 

3. Tohdi – Closed Door(Have fully understood the meaning of Tohdi Principles, Philosophy and Code of Ethics)

White sash with black / gold tassels -  illumination has been achieved

grading levels & instructor assessment

To determine the grading of Martial Arts knowledge and the ability of the practitioner/student, the following will apply:

1. The practitioner/student has to advance through the following levels:

a.    Chih level:
Forms, two persons sets, weapons sets, empty head sets, Chinese philosophy and culture.
        

b.   Duan or Dan level:

(This is for more advanced and competent Martial Arts practitioners)
Junior instructor       (1-2 Duan)
Senior instructor       (3-6 Duan)
Shirfu                      (7-8 Duan)
Shir Gung                 (9 Duan)

 

2. The practitioner must show Martial Arts knowledge, higher level knowledge of traditional Chinese medical practice, Wushu, Kung Fu and Chinese philosophy, culture and history. Martial Arts experience alone is not good enough for advancement. 

3. The practitioner needs to know Lion and Dragon dancing, Qi Gong, Taiji/Tai Chi, Dim-mak.

4. Honorary Duan may be awarded to individuals who have made important contributions to the development of Chinese Martial Arts, philosophy and culture in their environment.

Trainee’s have to go through Chih level first
Chih 1 – Trainee
Chih 2  - Trainee
Chih 3 – Trainee
Chih 4 -  Junior
Chih 5 – Junior
Chih 6 – Advance Junior
Duan 1 :  Advance Junior – 1 year
Duan 2 :  Advance Junior – 2 years
Duan 3 : Senior- 3 years
Duan 4 : Senior-  5 years
Duan 5: Senior – 6 years
Duan 6: Senior- 8 years
There will be an assessment every year for the Trainee , Junior and advanced junior (chih 6) instructor. Thereafter all Duan assessment will be done only to Shirfu's requirement according to the year stipulated. Shirfu will request that all instructors regardless of their  level to be assessed yearly just to make sure you are up to date with your training and your teaching, a nominal fee will be charged.

 

Any instructors who wish to further their  Duan  Assessment  must speak to Shirfu personally to see if you are qualify. To become certified Qi gong instructors one must speak personally to Shirfu only if you are advance in the Qi gong practice, philosophy and  its principles & be able to show your Fa jing energy  into Action practically.

a. Chih level
Level 1 - Red sash, white tassels (Beginner) - 6 to 12 mths - Shirdei/Mei
Level 2 - Blue sash, white tassels -12 to 24 mths - Shirdei/Mei
Level 3 - Green sash, white tassels - 24-36 mths  - Shirjuk

 

b.    Duan Level    
Level 4 (1st Duan) - Yellow sash, white tassels - 36-48 mths - Shirsiong/Je
Level 5 (2nd Daun) - Yellow sash, red tassels - 48-72 mths - Shirsho
Level 6 (3rd Duan) - Yellow sash, black tassels - Unlimited - Shirbor

 

c. Incorporates another 6 Duan levels.

(4th , 5th & 6th Duan) - For practitioner who wants to reach a higher and
professional understanding of Taiji
(7th, 8th & 9th Duan) - For practitioner who wants to become a Master or
Grandmaster

Level 12 (6th Duan) - Yellow sash, gold tassels - 8 yrs & upwards - Shirbor

 

c. Highest achievement

Shirfu Level - White sash – illumination achieved internally and externally. Sun is overhead.

Master Level - Grey sash, black tassels – illumination achieved internally and externally. Sun is going back down.

Shir-Gung Level - Black sash, white tassels - all is understood, darkness and light is blended together as one.
